...AND my Lunar L450 is strong enough to replace TWO, yes TWO Linear Power 1502IQs.
[OT] Though I became interested in audio at a young age, there wasn't much information to be had - all of 3 print magazines and a trip to the local library to browse EE textbooks. The major print rags all preaches sameness; if amps have equal power and equal distortion, they'll sound the same. Not having had much listening experience, I fell for it hook, line, and sinker.
When I was in my early 20s, I saved money over a summer and bought a Denon integrated amp to power my BA A40s. The amp had 125wpc, lots of bells and whistles, and I was more proud of the thing that you can imagine. Right around that time, I made new friend who was also interested in audio. He was a bit older, had more money, and just upgraded his separates. Graciously, he offered to let me hear an Amber70 amplifier and a Hagaman Hapi2 preamp. That's when audio as I knew it fell apart.
I'd remembered reading about the Amber in HighFidelity. It was a 70wpc amp with zero headroom and very unimpressive THD specs. As you see, I didn't even know that THD was meaningless, but I digress...
We hooked up the separates instead of the Denon, a more powerful amp with an EQ that I'd spent days adjusting, and could not believe what I heard. Saying the system sounded more powerful with an extra octave of bass would have been an understatement. There were no tone controls, no EQ, yet the sound didn't require any manipulation.
Needless to say I sold the Denon and bought my friend's Amber/Hapi combo. That was the beginning of the end. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif [/OT]
