Amplifier Repair?

Okay, so I've got a Viper d1200.1 and I had taken it out of my car to install my components and component amp. Well, while reinstalling my subwoofer I came into a dilemma. The speaker-wire connector has 5 holes, the center is for remote wire. Well, the gold connector on the removeable connector plug-in is no longer there. Thus I can plug the speakers in but have no way to connect my remote wire. I tested it out by pushing the remote wire into the hole to connect with the connector in the plugin(a golden button-like-thing). Well, I couldn't get.. hardly any response out of the woofer. Gain all the way up, volume up, and all my bass settings up I couldn't even get more than a low 'wob wob' out of it.

So, one, I need to fix my remote wire.

Two, what could be causing my sub to do that?
