Amp ?

Well I got my MMATS 2100.2 amp yesterday, I unhooked my Kicker 1500.1 from the IA Death Penalty and hooked up the MMATS, for some reason the Kicker seems to be louder. What is the problem? Is my electrical not good enough to run the MMATS properly? Both sound good but the Kicker sounds louder and it deffinitely makes the vehihcle flex more. The MMATS is a 2000 watt amp and the Kicker is a 1500 watt amp. Is it because the Kicker has bass boost or do I not have the MMATTS set right, it only has two adjustments, gain and frequency. I have no idea where I should have the frequency set, it adjusts from 77 to 275. Any help would be appreciated. If its my electrical I am just going put the Kicker back in for now, dont have the time to tear in to my electrical right now. Someone told me not to use the bass boost on the Kicker, why? I am sure they put it on there and gave it a remote for it to be used.

ok so you DO NOT WANT TO USE BASS BOOST, IT CLIPS YOUR AMP & SUB(S) AND WILL LEAD TO BLOWN EQUIPMENT....just saying.... i mean honestly between the 2 amps, you would notice much of a difference anyway. the kicker is "rated" 1500 but will put out more then that. probly around 1700 rms or more. i take it that you are wiring to 2ohms. but if your using bass boost with the kicker amp, it may appear to be louder but its actually probly just KILLING you stuff

I know my wifeys kicker zx1000.1 clamped 1379 rms @ 2.5 ohms. it wasnt in here car when we clamped, her electrical isnt that good but the kicker amps are know to put out more.

Its the 2100.2

PANEL LAYOUT

According to this link it is 2000 watts 2ohs at 13.8 volts.

My IA Death Penalty is a DVC 1ohm amp ran in series to a 2ohm load. Both amps are 2 ohm, the Kicker is supposed to be 1500 at 2 ohm the MMATS is supposed to be 2000 at 2ohm. Really disapointed with the MMATS performance right now. I bought the Kicker off of ebay, forgot I bid on it till I had already bought the MMATS amp from OmegaBunny. I got the Kicker first and was running it till yesterday when I got the MMATS, I changed them out only to find the Kicker is hitting harder. Is the MMATS overated? Someone on a different forum told me that it does not produce nowhere near its rated power that is why it has a 100 amp fuse rating versus the Kickers 150 amp fuse rating.

ok that manual shows the 2000.2......and yours is the 2100.2 like I posted....not trying to be difficult man. do you have a 2000.2 or a 2100.2?

the MMATS amps are not over rated, they are very efficient good amps. do not use the bass boost on the kicker amp and then compare the amps then. they are still going to sound the same because the amounts of power are to close together.

as for that forum. the forum was wrong. there are amps that do rated with smaller fuse ratings. take the soundstream dtr1.3400. it does over 3400 rms @ .5ohm but only calls for a 250Amp fuse.

ok. So what I posted showed Sine Wave 2100 watts at 2 ohms. That leads me to believe a "Peak Power" output. I'm not sure on sine-wave so someone else can correct me. But it stated RMS wattage at 1550.

Ok, I will try it without the bass boost and compare the two. I was about to take the MMATS out, put the Kicker back in, and put the MMATS up for sale or trade. I guess I will wait and check it out after work. It probably is the Bass boost, I had it turned up almost half way on the Kicker amp. What Frequency should I have the MMATS set for, it has from 77-275 on it.

So if it is 1550, the Kicker probably is a stronger amp, correct?

yea thats probly alittle bit heavy on the boost lol.... my wifes clamped 379rms over the rated with out the boost.

as far as frequency, im not sure. i her car i just the "x-over" i think is what its called set in the middle. im unfamiliar with what its used for, when we got the 1379 another guy had it set and he was had the oscopes and everything else to set that correctly where as i dont. maybe someone who is familiar with the kicker "x-over" switch will chime in.

The kicker is prolly a little stronger but the mmats is a better amp quality wise.

Never use bass boost all that does is lessen the life of the sub.

The mmats is much smaller and will run cool off of less power where the kicker is more power hungery.

And I would set that 77-255 low pass to like 80 or just all the way down

I'm guessing its a High Pass Freq Filter setting. That way the amp will only play tones below the frequency you choose. I wish I knew more about the amp. I would leave it at 77 or turn it no higher then 80-85.
