I just bought 2 Jl audio W6 and i dont know what amp to get. Are there any types of amps that can be used for jl audio subwoofers that arent jl audio?

Any subwoofer brand can be used with any amplifier brand.

Just be sure the ampilifer produces the power you need into the final impedance you have.

As Jim asked...what version of W6's do you have?

Budget for the amplifier?

v2 i have so any amp will work for any sub it wont interfere with the sound or anything if the amp is not as good as jl

No, using a different brand/"quality" will not make it sound worse.

JL Audio is one of the inarguable kings of aftermarket car audio gear marketing.

The company itself as well as the overwhelming majority of their licensed resellers will quickly have a novice buyer believing that JL Audio is the Be All, End All of car stereo equipment.

While they inarguably make solid products that doesn't mean that no other brand available is as good as they are and that you cannot extract outstanding performance from their products if you should happen (God forbid!!) to mix it with equipment from a different manufacturer.

The majority of the mobile A/V "veterans" on this forum (as well as most others) use a rather varied mixture of brands in their own personal setups and those who have implemented their gear properly report more than pleasing end results for having done so.

I'm sure Diamond Audio (another solid brand-name in case you're keeping score) would prefer that I amplify the speakers and the subwoofer I use of theirs with Diamond Audio amplifiers ~ and if I could have found appropriate gear by them at better prices I well may have. But I have no problems at all amplifying DAT drivers with Kenwood eXcelon amplifiers.

What's your budget?

Also, what size subs do you have?

they are 12 and about 400 maybe i really dont know i willing to work with anything cheaper would be better but wwith quality
