amp wiring prob.

i am helping a friend with an install he hs one 15" crossfire bmf dvc and a 1600watt 4 channel amp. is it possible to wire this amp to push the sub with needed power? i thought if i bridged channels 1&2 to one v.c. and bridged channels 3&4 to the other v.c it would work but im not 100% sure and dont want to screw it up.

Well I'm not completely sure about a 4-channel amp, but I have my two 4ohm DVC subs hooked up at 2 ohms. 2 ohms is usually a good way to go. You have three options:

1) wire each sub's VC's in parralel for 2 ohms and run each one from a separate channel on the amp (not bridged)

2) wire each VC in parallel (2 ohms) then put both subs in series for 4 ohms total and wire to the amp bridged for 2 ohms.

3) wire each VC in series (8 ohms) then parallel the two subs, which also gives 4 ohms, then to the bridged amp.

I hope that helps. Check the manual on your amp to see what it puts out at 2 ohms. If it doesn't do any good just hook them up at 4 ohms.

It would help if you told us what kinda amp it was. Also why do you need 1600watts for a crossfire sub?

the crossfire sub is a 1200 watt sub rated at 2ohms i wont need the full 1600 watts ill keep the gain level down, its a pyramid special edition amp.

yeah thats like a huge peak, i bet it's like 400 watts.....if that.

Thats why I wanted to know. Now give me some specs on this crossfire sub....is it a dvc 2ohm sub with a 1200watt peak? If so that would make it around 600rms 300rms per coil.
