Okay,
Helped a buddy wire his system up today, he purchased a refurbished Kole Audio QXi-3000D amp off of eBay //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif This amp was "supposed" to be 1 ohm stable. Personally I didnt see the amp holding up to a 1 ohm load but we went for it. Hooked it up, played fine for 45 mins, was keeping close to 14 volts on gauge close to amp. I periodically checked the temp of the amp, barely got over warm to the touch on hard play. I figured all was well he goes to turn the car off, before he even gets to the front of the vehicle the amp goes into protect. I told him to turn the vehicle back on, stuck in protect still. I check the rca connections on the input on the amp, as soon as I touched em the amp comes back on, subs bump for a few seconds, when i let loose of the rcas the amp keeps jumping from protect to on and the smoke rolls from around the input side of the amp. What happened here? Could the inputs have been loose and grounded out inside? If so would it be the dealers fault?
