amp trouble, JBL OWNERS?

i just got my brand new in box jbl gto1201.1II tonight

i hook it up, and the protection light comes on, and fades away, but the power light never comes on. i checked all my wiring, its all good. ground, remote, power, everything is fine. so im stumped.

my power wire is 0 guage and the amp only accepts 4, so i ran it through my distro block with about 18 inches of 4ga into the amp. could there be a problem there?

i opened up the owners manual and it gave me a bunch of codes to match up what the protection light was doing. like if it would blink every 4 seconds, come on and stay on..etc but none of them matched it comming on and just slowing fading away until not on anymore. and the amp wouldnt turn on. i played with my ignition switchin the key on and off, and sometimes it would come on and do the fade away thing again, but sometimes it wouldnt do anything.

anyone have any ideas? is there something im not doing?

the only thing i could think of would be my distro block. but if the protection light is comming on, then its getting power. so that means the ground is good too. and i played with the remote wire a few times but still nothing. all my connections and wires (minus the distro block) is all the same as my last setup. so i know they work.

i have a new jbl amp unde my bed ready to install, i hope i dont have the same issue, im guessng even a company as good as jbl occasionaly has a bogus amp leave the wharehouse?

coils ok on the sub? speaker wire conneted?

protection light may also have somthing to do with the speakers hooked to it..

well i just got it in a trade, and before i sent my stuff out i hooked it up to see if it would just power up. my setup isnt ready yet, so i just hooked up the power ground and remote, no subs attached. could that have been the problem?

Try it with the subs disconnected. Also try running a wire from your Batt + directly to the remote connection on the amp to make sure it powers up.

i have the exact same amp, but have not a single problem with it.... no idea what could be the problem. ive always ran JBL amplifiers, not a single problem.

yes, Iv owned the exact same amp too, like 7 months and not a single problem
