hi

guys my 4 channel amp trips if i use it for a long period of time at high volume and i believe i have not over loaded it cause it only has

a pair of 6/9" speakers attached to two channels and the rest of the two channels have been bridged to a Cervan Vega Hed 12" Sub

Any one knows WHY ?

thanx

well i have never felt it but ... it definetely must get hot that it TRIPS so any solution for it ?

but i think arround 30' C //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You could try some fans on it.. help get the heat off it.. where is it physically located? is there good air flow?

It's easy to overdrive an amp if it's smaller.. just because you have 'smaller' speakers dosen't mean you can run the amp at the top...

Originally posted by i3abyjay25 also, what guage of power and ground wire are you useing? you may need to upgrade and get something bigger
small wires won't cause the amp to over-heat.. it would only starve them (and they wouldn't run at full power).. At least, I'm pretty sure the wire size has nothing to do with it..

the amp is located in a trunk of a sedan and guess there is pretty much air to keep it cool

the question still remains the same HOW TO STOP THE AMP FROM TRIPPING ?

if heat is the problem the only solution is fan or air for it or there is something else as well like capacitor or some other technology

u know what i mean ... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

If it's shutting down from heat, the only thing you can do is find a way to cool it off (fans) or don't run it so hard/long.. that's it..

Not sure what the impedence is on that sub, but if it's 2 ohm then that would help explain the heat, most bridged amps run 4 ohm, the amp could be being over-driven.. if it's a 4 ohm voice coil then either get a different amp or fans or turn it down *shrug*
