Amp to compliment R series

I'm looking for an amp to go with my and 12" R-series sub. I dont want to take it to maximum power, I want good clean sound. I've read so much about sub/amp combos that I think i've confused myself too much to know exactly what I want

Also if all of my speakers are 4 ohms do I want to get a DVC 4ohm sub and have it wired at 2 ohm? Or get a 2ohm DVC sub and wire it to be 4 ohms?

I don't think you are going to get SQ w/ R's... I think thats the verdict everyone has come to, but they will get hella loud...

How many? What impedance?

I'm looking for under $150 for a sub and somewhere around that for the amp.

It'll only be one sub. And I'm not sure about the impedance. Which would you guys go with if you are putting 4x 5.25 S series + Alpine head unit.

I have the option of getting a 2ohm or 4 ohm sub seeing as I haven't ordered anything yet.

You will want it wired at 2 or 1 ohms to get the most bang for your buck on a budget like that... You ca get a type "R" for 135$ new. You may also want to look into Power Acoustic amps... They aren't the nicest, but they are good for cheap... So it seems anyway.

Ok so with a 4 ohm sub wired at 2ohms, I think this one will work from what I hear:

Nah, its my first sub buy so I wanna make sure I'm getting my money's worth.

You say "R's" as in I'm getting two, I'm only getting one, wouldn't that amp be too powerful for the sub? Or can the RMS and Peak of the amp excede the sub's rms and peak?

EDIT: I've also read as long as you don't push the r series to its limit, they sound better. Thats another reason why I think thesmaller one could work better.

Sorry. I meant for that sub in general...

Some people run their R's with like 1300w each.. Most people would recommend that you run them w/ 1000w each, and that they will handle 1000w no problem.

My first one was defective, but thats no biggie... It happens..

Anyway, they are supposed to do their rated power, or a tiny bit lower... They are not over rated like other lower end amps (Sony, Boss etc.)

Ok, so the one I posted will work fine? It's 1100W Peak and then if I wire it to 2ohm it will have an RMS of 400W.
