amp/system opinions Mcintosh alone or Mc and JL 1000/1

Hey guys Im kinda on the fence and need some advice. I have both a MC440 and a JL 1000/1. My plan was to use both and run the MC440 as a 4 channel and use the 1000/1 on a 12 or 13w7. Well my installer friend is really pushing me to just use the MC440 (6 chan 50x4+100x2 at 4 ohm) to run everything and switch up my sub idea to something that doesnt require a ton of power. I like SQ but I love clean accurate bass too....I dont know what to do. Any ideas on which way to go and if I use just the Mac which sub stage I could use? Does anyone know if the MC440 really only puts out 200 watts to the sub channel or is it an underrated number? Thanks aheaf of time for the input....
