Amp switches back and forth between protect mode right after turning car on

For some reason my amp goes back and forth between active and protect for about 10 seconds after turning on. Any ideas? Thanks

BTW, it's a 500 watt boston acoustics mono amp. Other than this strange issue it seems to be a really quality unit.

sounds like your power supply has a short.

could be the relay inside the amps

unhook your speakers from the amp and see if it still happens.

My buddy had an AP1500 do that. Turns out his positive connection had some loose under the hood so when he turned it up the amp would drop way down and go into like a semi-protect mode. Shutting off the car and starting it back up didn't fix it, but removing the +12v positive from the amp for a couple seconds reset something, and when we hooked it back up everything was fine.
