What kind of power can the subs handle (RMS)?

i currently have a RF 500.1 amp...but crutchfield told me (i know, i know) that i'd blow those subs with that amp. but at 4 ohms it puts out 500w...

would it make a diff. how the subs were wired? they go to a single terminal cup...
