Amp Suggestion for Alpine SWR-1542D

Get an SWR-1522D and you can get an amp that does 1000-1800w rms at 1 ohm. Might be cheaper than finding an amp that does that kind of power at 2 ohms.

I don't know where you got the specs but the ones I found for it say it doesn't run at 1 ohm...

If you get a Dual 2, look to see if you can find a Directed 2400, it does 1200w rms. I picked mine up for $150 and is a great match for my 15" dual 2 type r.

What doesn't run at 1 Ohm?

An amp or the 1542 you are considering?

The Dual 4 Ohm version of the 15" Type R (SWR-1542) won't wire to a 1 Ohm nominal load but the Dual 2 Ohm (SWR-1522) will.

Hence the suggestion that you purchase the Dual 2 Ohm version instead as it might be easier to source the power you need at 1 Ohm rather than 2...

read the quote. I was talking about the amp he reccomended.

As for an amp, I'm thinking about hifonics...how's their quality compare? Namely the BXi 1206D or 1606D

HiFonics' amps are decent for the money.

They have a tendency to be a bit optimistic on their wattage claims but watts vs dollars overall they aren't a terrible investment. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Can better gear be found elsewhere?

Yep.

You'll also pay more for it on most occassions...
