Amp subsonic or infrasonic filter necessary?

for a sub? If I am using a 4 channel amp bridged to feed 350-400 watts to a JL 8w7 does does not have a subsonic or infrasonic filter will it damage anything? I just remember back in the day I ran tons of power to multiple amps that did not have those filters. no harm done.

I am not sure if this box will be sealed or ported. I am wanting sealed simply for space.

The only thing the subsonic filter will protect is your subs. It won't hurt the sub too much but if you're pushing it hard on like a chopped and screwed song chances are there is gonna be some low stuff in it that would normally be protected by a subsonic filter.

well originally i was going to go sealed but I only have about 350 watts available. That lead me to thinking I should go ported but I don't have the filters on my amp. Therefore I may be back to using a sealed box. I'm just worried that the sub will not give that much output.

you don't need to run a subsonic filter, if you tune your box correctly. that goes for both sealed and vented. basically, if you tune the box higher, and/or you will gain some spl, but excursion increases below the roll-off. you can build the box so that it does not happen. if you happen to build the enclosure so that it does have a sub-sonic excursion rise, then you use the filter.
