Its loose back there, not at the amp. Checked and rechecked that.

Yeah, the remote wire. Thats what i call it? Yeah, its loose in there. Either that or bad ground.

I'm actually only running 8g for both power and ground, its so small. I think its the wire burning!(or just my painted box)

The amps less than a few days old, so i'm hoping its something to do with the wiring.
I'm still not sure what the smell it is. If i can only be giving 1300w at 14.4v and theres no way im at a steady 14.4v then i can only possibly be doing 500w to each sub... It can't be burning them up after like 15 minutes off and on?

Would a loose remote wire tell the amp to power down? Thats the only other thing i can think of, other than the ground and that seems to be a good ground.

Get a 5 farad cap and run 1/0 to the amp

The amp could actually only be putting out 1000wrms dirty because of voltage drop. Take a DMM while playing music and measure the voltage at the amp, if its dropping enough it will put the amp into protect and could be cause the amp to clip, which would explain the hot cones

Thats probably it, 8 gauge is no where near what i need. The amp lights even dim its pathetic. I would never want to know my drops, probably close to like 6v.

you could be running a dirty signal to your subs... if your useing stock electrical with no extra battery or anything. that skinny wire your useing might have too much resistance causeing distortion and that could be your burning smell to the subs. or maybe your speaker wire is too thin and its burning up slowly.

dood wtf, I got 8 gauge wire going to my subs and Im running the same (almost) amp. My amp was shutting down but the blue light was still on but real dim and It was a bad ground, did you sand down to bare metal

no cap bro go with a battery, get you some 0 gauge and run it back to a distro block and run 4 gauge wire to the amp with 8 gauge going to your box and possible to the sub if will fit in the terminals

Yeah, i found out what it was. The inline fuse was just melted completely under the hood. That's what i was smelling and the reason for all this trouble.

id still go with bigger wires, and not 8g.. especially for power and grounds.. that could be why your fuse melted, wires were getting too hot because its trying to pull a lot of power through such little wire, wires got hot, fuse was melting

Yeah, def. I'm working on getting some bigger wire as we speak.
