Amp shuts off

Hi, I need some help or opinions what to do to correct this problem I have. I've got a Kenwood 1000w bridgable amp, hooked it up to the front speakers (Kenwood excelon highs and mids with x-over) and regular Kenwood components in the back as well. I hooked the fronts up to the left channel of the amp and the rears to the right channel of the amp so I can use the balance as a fade. However I'm using an Alpine CDA-7897 and everytime I crank it to around 17, the amp shuts off or either heats up burning hot to the touch then shuts off because of heat. I turned the sensitivity to a minimum, checked grounds and power wires...Could I have hooked the fronts up wrong? I tried hooking up just the fronts and it shuts off. My right x-ovver in the front door has fried the coils ... impedance factors? If anyone can help! thanks!
