amp shuts off whenever the speaker is hooked up

Use a DMM to measure the resistance of your sub - just to make sure it is good.

Can you try a different sub?

Probably missed something when you repaired the amp, or maybe have a solder bridge when you replaced the FET?

as i was soldering the new one one i checked the resistance and continuity of the gateway resistors and every capacitor. Could it be that the transistor is grounding to the heatsink underneath?

proberly.... worth a shot... theres not really that much damage to the board.... have you made sure you used the correct parts when replacing (correct values ect)

have you tried another speaker? or checked your speaker wiring?

They are IRFZ22N's.

hooked it to my boss onyx and the same thing happened.

ground is straight it the body and battery is feeding 14V.

At first i thought that my capacitor was giving it too much power, or that it shorted it.

I wired it in without the capacitor and a new FET and the same one popped again. What would cause an output transistor to short?
