amp rms rating

I know there are amps cheaper, but this is a mmats, and the guy says it was never used. looks brand new. and its for 2 right now, eventually I will hook up the rears.

That’s a crazy amount of money to spend on an mmats amp to run comps. You can buy ARC, Audison or ZAPCO for a comp amp for less money, which I like better than mmats. For that kind of power your throwing money away.IMO If its 2 160w rms amps. I have some swamp land I want to sell you.

You can get a 4 channel Cadence TXA-6004 150 x 4@4ohm for $179.99 shipped and I beat you cannot hear any difference. These are nice amps also clean, make rated power, x-over built-in, Class AB design. This takes care of your front and rear speakers all in one chassis.

Why do you think mmats is going to make a difference? I really do want to hear your answer on this one.

I would take alot of other brands of mmats.

I will refer to the RC autosound2000 amp challenge on can you hear the difference between amps.

exactly my thoughts.....i was wondering the same....$500 in what currency??US.....no no no...that is wayyyyyyyy too much to spend on a mere 160rms...

If I have speakers rated at 90wrms... is it overkill to buy a mmats amp rated at 160wrms?
Just adjust your gains accordingly with a DMM.

voltage = sqrt(watts*ohm)

So, say you only wanted to push 90w to the speakers, and assuming they are 4-ohm, you would use...

voltage = sqrt(90*4)

voltage = ~19

At max RMS output, your amp would be putting out 25.3v.

I had a used mmats sub amp and it was amazing, I bought it used on ebay and it lasted about 3 years.. mmats makes good stuff. and besides it goes for I believe 800 new retail. I liek to stick with brands I know and like as oposed to stuff I havn't heard or used before

You have never heard of Audison, ARC or Zapco.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif If not you may want to do some research. Do not close you mind to things you don't know about.

Try the search function on here or other audio forums you may learn something new.
