Amp repairmen please halp!

If the transformer is making a bad noise, it could be the power supply transistors sending a bad signal to the primary winding on the transformer.
That's very true. But usually, if the power supply drive circuitry has gone asymmetrical, one side (or both sides ) of the power supply fets will run REAL hot or fry. He didn't mention any overheating.

I hope he's reading this.....

I had an amp do this after a repair.... got stolen before it could be fixed so I never figured out what it was. It was my Orion HCCA 275G4 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Just wanted to fill you guys in. Thanks for the advice. I sold it to someone locally for $150 who knows how to fix amps. He said it would probably cost him $10 in parts to fix lol. But I made a good profit so I'm happy.

I'm keeping in touch with him so when he fixes it, he'll let me know exactly what it was, and he said he could fix amps for me for cheap. All in all it turned out well.

And no, I didn't spray the internals with WD-40, despite the advice seeming so legitimate! haha!
