Hi all, i'm wondering if you can help me decide on an amp to get. I currently have 2 12" Rockford Fosgate Subs, I forget the model but they are rated for 150RMS each @ 8ohms. They are wired in parallel and have i'm told has a final impedence of 4 ohms. I'm currently looking at possibly getting either a JL Audio 250/1, or a PPI PCX 280. I'm also open to other suggestions, my main concern is sound quality and clarity. I eventually will replace the subs(probalby with JL W3v2's) and if nessarry build a new box for the new sub(s) i may get in the future. Any reccomendations/advice would be appriciated.

*edit*

PS

I would like to get something @ or around $250 or so. cheaper is always better if the quality is there! Also, anyone ever hear of Tornado amps?

If they're SVC 8 ohms, then yes, then the final impedance from parallel wiring is 4 ohms. If theyre DVC 8 ohms, you can get a 2 ohm final impedance. But the JBL 600.1 is a great choice for two SVC 8 ohms. It does 300x1 @ 4 ohms, which is perfect for your setup. And if you do upgrade to the W3V2's later on, you can use the same amp, and run it at 1 or 2 ohms to get 300 watts out of each JL. Plus, it can be found for around $175-200. I'd definitely look into it if I were you.

that amp is sounding good to me...price is right too. I'll check with my guy, see if he can get it cheaper, but it's looking like it could be the one i end up with. But one more question, how's the sound quality on a JBL? are they pretty high quality?

cool, is the 300watt rating @ 4 ohms RMS or peak? if it's peak what's the RMS? and why doesn't JBL specify on their site?

also, does ikesound.com charge tax in cali?

not that i know of.

and, the subs should say either RMS, or PEAK WATTAGE next to the number. Sound Q on the JBL is good.

if the number on the subs is peak, RMS is usually half the peak power... USUALLY. could be completely wrong on Rockfords,

i know what my speakers support, that's not the question, i'm wondering what the wattage the sub puts out is. It says 300watts, but doesn't specify if that is RMS or peak.

Cool, thanks guys. I think you've just made the decision for me...unless something else pops up in my head. Once i get it, or something i'll let u know how it went.

I'd honestly go with concept i've only had it for a day but WOW I tell you what, and when I say "WOW" i mean wow on the price and the performance
