Peak watts dont mean crap really,RMS is what I look for

ok im cool with that......

A particular amp I was looking at buying for a small project says this on the specs

338W RMS

434W Dynamic

the word Dynamic I always thought was RMS

now I am confused as to what it realyu means

this amp I am looking at is from a reputable company with CES ratings on all its amps

what gives?

dynamic is the new word for peak?

"Dynamic" is more or less like "peak", except that all the marketing departments took over "Peak" and turned it into a meaningless number. This looks like it might be a real-life peak power rating. You'd still want to use the RMS number for comparison with other amps.

Dynamic could mean many things (meaning varies by manufacturer) ... but it's not "Peak" power ...
I've seen it used in place of "peak" before. Don't remember what company though.

But, like Jmac said...."Dynamic" and it's definition will vary manufacturer to manufacturer. There is no universal explaination for what is considered "dynamic" power. Just another marketing term they threw out there.....
