when im playing music (no sub hooked up ATM) my component amp randomly turns off. im not over powering them. they are the eclipse sc6500 6.5 set which is 65wrms @ 4ohm and my amp is an eclipse ea2000 which is 75 x 2 @ 4ohm. ive even turned the gain down alot more, just to make sure. and the amp still shuts off. the amp was BNIB from OCS.com so i dont see how it could be defective. this also happened when i had my kx600.1 and L7 hooked up. both amps would shut off. now i sold the kx600.1 and the ea2000 still shuts off randomly. then comes back on, then shuts off again. i have no clue whats going on. ive checked grounds, rca's, all kind of shit. jiggled the ground while is was playing, nothing happened, jiggled the rcas, nothing happened. i cant pinpoint whats making the amp shut off. any ideas??

I bet you have a problem with impedience on one of your speakers, and its effecting the rest of the setup. Try disconnecting one speaker at a time while the rest are connected and see if that makes a difference. Might be a componant of the crossovers (ie:cap, inductor, resistor) thats got a bad soldier joint or just failed.

this would cause the amp to shut off?

does it shut off or go into protect? if it was a crossover part or impedence issuse I would believe that the amp would go into protect b/c of direct short or too low of an impedence. If the amp is shutting off...sould like a power issue...maybe low voltage or overvoltage (alt regulator) or a poor connection...if you got a round glass fuse...we sometmes have a problem with one cap comming loose and there being a bad connection there...

amp shuts off. no round cap fuse. i have noticed the distro by the batter where my powere wire connect looks like it is melting a bit, and there was alot of copper showing. maybe i somehow killed my power wire (if possible). i checked the remote wire, everything was ok.

i also noticed when i jiggled my power wire up by the battery, where the fuse is, it would cause the front component amp to shut off. so i think ive narrowed it down to that. maybe replace the distroblock and fuse, and run a new power wire. other than that im stumped. because at the moment, my component amp will not turn on at all. it worked on and off earlier today, not nothing. wont power up at all

Do NOT disconnect a single speaker from a passive crossover. Doing so could damage your crossover, and even your amp. (See http://www.bcae1.com/xoorder.htm for details).

I agree, it sounds like a power issue. In addition to checking the connections, etc, make sure your remote wire hasn't been pinched anywhere along its length. This happened to me. It got pinched behind the seat, and was shorting out to the chassis, but only intermittently. The amp would stay on for a while, shut off for a while, etc, randomly.

Are you talking about the fuse holder, that is inline on your power wire, near the battery? If so, some cheap fuse holders will overheat and melt, because of the increased resistance at the contacts. If that's the case, make sure you replace it with a quality fuse holder, and a new, quality fuse.

Our local WalMart sells the Schoche(sp?) kits and they are bad about that...ive seen acouple melted almost completely flat

its a scoshe wiring kit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif well.. the power wire and fuse holder/fuse is schoshe. i replaced everything else. i belive the wire i use for ground and other power connections (coming out of the buss bar) are audiopipe. but i could be wrong. but it definatly isnt scoshe. im taking it to the audio shop tomorrow, see what they say. probly buy a new fuse holder, fuse, and either some knukoncepz or hyperflex 1/0 (dont need 1/0 yet, but i will in the future so i might as well run it now)

as far as the remote wire goes, i checked it. no kinks. althought, i didnt check all of it behind the dash. it was hard to get to, and i was in a hurry. had to get ready for work. so ill recheck that. my remote wire goes from my HU to a wire nut, which in turn holds 2 more wires. one going to my amp, one going to the antenna input
