Before I start, I want everyone to know that all of this was done by Marv. He is, without a doubt, the best box-builder in the Western Hemisphere (and as far as I know, the world). 17 years of cabinet-making experience doesn't lie and his craftsmanship accentuates that. If you have any reservations or doubts, his work speaks for itself -- check out his website, do a search on EliteCarAudio.com forums, ask around.
Unfortunately, some of these pictures do not show a couple of the details that make him an elite box builder. However, I will list a few as well as some stuff I've learned.
1) There is not a single drop of caulk, silcone sealant, or excess glue ANYWHERE. Period. If you are an ELITE box-builder, you will find that there is absolutely NO use for any of this if your joints are PERFECT.
2) All corners are fillet rounded.
3) Walmart carpet is crap. If you wan't a properly carpet-finished box, don't use it.
4) Take care of your equipment (mainly the bits) and maintain a clean working enviroment -- it will pay dividends for many years.
5) Often times, your eye is the best judge of spatial positioning -- not a ruler.
Distribution blocks + my PXA-H701 processor + wiring are all in the cavity below the top lid (I shall post pictures later). Eventually, I hope to mount an Alpine DVD changer (one with optical output) in there as well.
The reason I say "almost" finished is because I'm still waiting on a couple things from Parts Express that will REALLY set this amp rack on fire.
Eventually, this will sit flush into the spare tire well of a '94 Toyota Camry, '99 Acura 3.2TL, and a 2005 Lexus RX330. Why you ask? You shall see.
As far as price is concerned, him and I both agree that he is VERY fair when it comes to the quality-finish
rice ratio. For ANY of you that inherently think he is "expensive" to work with, you are wrong. When you demand the absolute best, and not a piss-poor assembly of wood some high schooler made for you in 20 minutes, then Marv is your man. Visit his website for email contact information or PM me for telephone contact.
Anyways, I shall let the pictures speak for themselves.
