ok i've been starting to get into amp repair since i repair construction guages at my new job and i was wondering a few things since i have an old amp i can fool around with now if i take the old resisters and upgrade them with knew smaller size but same face value resistors will that change anything with the amp ie quality performance ect... or is that just the mosfets that add to the performance?

well i would assume the bigger face value would change a lot i'll definitely check into that but i was just saying smaller as in newer resistor cause these are masssive and old lol

the smaller one normally handle less current. i use the big 1/2 resistors in all amps i rebuild. for most mosfets i use 1/2 47ohm resistors. a few amps like like kicker that uses uses 100 ohm or amps that use parts like irfp640 will use like 15 ohm resistors. u can change the value depending what transistor u use. u can lower the voltage of the amp to see if they will work. if not they will get hot. oh and u dont want the power supply turning on to fast or to slow.

The phisical size of resistors depends on their power rating - how much heat they can dissipate. Using smaller ones would only make them burn out quicker. You really need to know what you're doing before changing them to something else.
