amp questions

1. does a ported box lower the amount of power needed to drive a sub? if so, how does it do that?

2. what is a birthsheet? i've seen/read this in a lot of posts.

3. how do i bench test my amp? do i need to take it into an audio shop?

1) I dunno that one.

2) It's a test data sheet that comes with some amps to show what it actually put out during factory testing.

3) You need a DC power supply big enough to supply full power, a load resistor big enough to handle full power, a DVM and preferably an oscilloscope. You also need a source of AC sine wave (CD player and a test CD, or audio signal generator). If you're not equipped for that, take it to someone who is.
