Amp problems

Ok, I have my system hooked up. It consists of 2 10" Rockford P2s and an MTX Thunder 3401 amp. Whenever the volume is turned all the way down on the Pioneer p6700mp deck, the subs go "thump" and the amp's cooling fan is noisy as hell. I will prolly send it back to Crutchfield as this amp really pisses me off. Any suggestions as to what is causing the thump? And what a good amp would be to replace it if I decide to. Kenwood looks really nice right now.
