Amp powered up but no output

First of all hi everybody !

I have had my amp and subwoofer for like 3 weeks now and still havent got it working yet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Both of them are brand new and I have been hassling with them so much and now I am out of ideas and hope u guys can help me out.

I have measured the connections with a multimeter and got the following results : 12V from battery, 12V from REM. Ground should be ok, nicely sanded and tightly connected to chassis. Measured ground also and it showed -12V ( multimeter one end to amps + terminal and another end to ground terminal ). RCA has been a problem, from headunit I couldnt get any measurements through RCA cables ( subwoofer output was turned on and went through all settings ). So I got a high low adapter, connected it correctly and I finally got a signal through RCA cable but still no output. I have tried to use the 60hz testtone and then turn the gain control on the amp and so on but still no output :S. Amp and subwoofer should also be connected correctly, - to - and + to +. I hope I wrote all the information here. Also sorry for my poor english, hopefully u will understand it. Also amps power light is on ( should mean the it runs correctly ) and protect light is off.

One question also. Will I get reading from the output terminals with multimeter even when the amp isnt connected to sub ?

if you have a signal coming from the amp ,then yes you should have readings .,how many rcs outputs are on your deck ? if more than 2 ,then try another one and see if you get readings from it ,if no readings then maybe a bad rca.also if you have a aux wire with rcas try connecting it direct to the amp using an ipod

Theres 2 outputs for subwoofer. RCA cable is fine I tested this also with multimeter. I have tried that aux thing aswell. I even tested if theres any signal coming from iPod and yes I got a reading but still not working :/ I have been thinking already for a while that this amp is faulty, but this is very rare I guess since I got it brand new from shop. Any ideas how to make sure if the amp is faulty ? I personally think the best way to test it is to set your amp to someones car which has working amp and subwoofer. If with same connections my amp doesent give any output at his car then my amp is faulty. Not sure but maybe some car audio shops can test it. But ofcourse it costs more money ://

That last thought is probably the best route.

Well it sounds like your amplifier isn't outputting anything. It's really easy to narrow down issues with amplifiers.

1. Does it have power? (12vDC constant, 12vDC remote, and ground)

You say from your readings you've got it and your ground is good.

2. Is the amplifier getting input signal voltage (vAC outer RCA shield negative, inner pole positive - don't touch the leads together or otherwise connect the inner pole with the outer shield as it may damage your radio - make sure you're measuring this vAC, not vDC - this number should rise and fall with volume).

3. If you have input, not meter the output (vAC positive and negative, nothing has to be attached to the amplifier).

4. If you have no output either a. your amplifier is bad, or b. the settings on the amplifier are wrong leading to know workable output. What are your settings on your amplifier (LPF xover, gain, etc.)?
