sorry for the noob question here but. a guy in another part of the forum told me all amps can run 8 ohm. but the specs for the amp i wanna get dont specify the 8 ohm output. how can i find out what the power output at 8 ohms is? The reason i ask is buddy of mine is giving me a bandpass box and a 8ohm Fosgate 10" for free. i want to leave room to upgrade the sub to a RE down the road.

Depending on the amplifier in question, your 4 ohm stereo power is generally what your 8 ohm mono power will be. Sometimes it is a little higher, other times it is a little lower, but that is just how the cookie crumbles!

I highly doubt your subwoofer will receive much more than 100 watts RMS on the Class D channel @ 8 ohms. Then again, it is only temporary and I would have no problems rocking a free sub until I was able to get what I wanted.

i plan on upgrading to a 4ohm RE SR 10" and running it off that 5th channel. i could get the sub this weekend but i figure ill get sick of that baby sub soon enough ill just hold out for a lil
