Alright about a week ago i got in my car and turned it on and my subs started popping and they wouldn't play any bass. It was just a constant pop.....pop.....pop.....pop. I got out and looked at my amp....amp power light was stayin on...protection light was NOT coming on. Checked all the connections everything was fine. My mids and highs were still playing...just no bass. I noticed that my amp was makin the same poppin noise. After about 10 minutes the subs stopped popping the bass started working.

Well it worked just fine since then until today about 30 minutes before I'm about to leave to go to a competition (of course my luck). I checked all the connections again...everything looked fine. I got a power tester (not sure the correct name) but it looks like a screw driver and it has a lightbulb that lights up if what you are touching has power going through it. I attached the negative for the tester to the ground on my amp. Then touched the postive to the various connections on the kx2500. When I touched it to the negative speaker wire terminal it blew the light bulb on the tester, but yet the amp and subs stopped poppin and the bass started working again. It was very strange.

So I went to the competition and it worked just fine. After the competition I was on my way home, with no bass playing and all of a sudden the subs started popping again. So when I got home I unhooked my subs from the amp to see if the amp still made the poppin sound, and it does. I also noticed that the popping sound also comes through my other speakers as well. The weird thing is though is my subs dont play bass when the poppin problem is happening but my mids and highs play just fine, but like I said they to have the poppin sound.

Anyone have any ideas? One other thing that I might need to mention is when I turn my cd player on the very first pop that comes through the subs is quite a bit louder than the following ones. After the first loud pop the rest of the pops are quieter.

The fact that the ground made that light bulb blow, makes me think its a bad ground.
Check your grounds.. are your amps grounded to the frame?
It was actually the negative speaker wire terminal. My little amp is grounded to the frame but my kx2500 is grounded to the kinetik 2400 in the back, which is grounded to the frame.

The tester has a clamp to ground it then has the positive end on it to do the testing. I had the ground clamp on the ground on the amp. Then when I touched the end of the tester to the negative speaker wire terminal that is when the light blew and the amp started working again.
