Amp Overheats

I have a kenwood excelon KAC-X520 2-channel amp hooked up to 2 12"RF subs, but im not to familiar with the ohms and all that and the subs hit hard, but after awhile the amp begins to get very hot and i even have a 1 Fraud cap and optima battery, i dont know if i should upgrade the amp or tune it some how, what should i do?

wha ohm are the subs?

Kenwoods are nortoius for overheating...esp. if your running it at 1 ohm

Well funny u ask, i have a P3 and P2 RF sub cuz i wanted them hooked up until i can get another P3 so there a 2 and 4ohm.

Ok first off a little pointer. Mixing subs=bad idea.....you have a likely chance of some cancellation occouring.

So is it best just to go buy another P3 and have a PRO installer hook it up right?

Naw you can do it. It isnt hard. Tell me a little more about your set-up and I can help you out.

Is your p2 a single 2 or dual 2. Is your p3 a single 4 or dual 4?

This is the specs of your amp

# 125 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms

# 250 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms

# 500 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms in bridged mode

If you tell me exactly which two subwoofer you are talking about I can tell you what to do. You need to tell me what voice coils they have and whats size they are.
