amp overheats into protection mode

fans may not be the answer... where is it mounted?? how much air flow is there? what kind of amp is it?? a fan may help some but only if it can get the hot air away from the board..

Well i drove for about 20 mins to dads (was there for about 2 hours, then 20 mins home, then 20 mins to his house again then it stopped working. and yes loud music the whole time, but my last system i could play loud for 2 hours straight and itd be regularly warm.

they will get pretty hot at 1ohm.. still shouldnt have shut down i think you are prob trying to get more than its capable of and clipping it.. this will heat it up pretty fast... what sub is it?? the cheaper hifonics are known to be overated power wise anyway.. so its prob not doing all it should be.. sounds like trying to run it to hard though...how did you adjust your gains?? and i dont mean what are they set to .. i mean how did you adjust them? did you use a meter or just turned the dial till they got loud?
