Amp Overheating

uh no those amps run hoter then most amps it's has the mehsa chip (maximum effiniency heat sink application)which helps optimized power output and enhanced thermal stability and maximum component reliabiliy ....how is mounted??the best way is to have the amp vertical hope that helps

Well i tried eliminating the power cap and just wiring the 2 8 guages to the 4 guage but i still had the same problem. Should i be getting one of these? http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/ezcompare/accessories/Accessories_fullSize.asp?key=1640 or doesnt it make a difference? And also, could it be because the fuse at the battery is more like 21 inches fromthe battery instead of 18? Could it be because the ground at the battery is only 8 guage?

Edit: Shortened before fuse length, put a 4 guage ground on the battery. Still same problem.

if the amp is not shutting off then just mount it vertical !!!!it well help with heat!!!!!!!!maybe it has alwayes ran hot?with out you knowing??tell now..+ you are runing what 500 rms subs right?that doesn't help to keep the amp cool maybe get a bigger amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Well, i disconnected my 4 way amp and only had my sub amp hooked up, and i played bassy songs full blast for about 45 mins and it did not shut off, it got hot, but it didnt shut off. So there must be something wrong with the other amp, i dont know why, it is a brand new mtx thunder 564. Should i be getting a distribution block to hook these 2 amps up to? Or is there some other problem?

Hi i have a 200 rms amp ( 4 channels, 50rms ach) i connected 2 6x9 speakers ( 40rms each), and bridged a sub( 300rms), every 15 minutes the amp is getting extremely hot and shutting down, y is that?? the amp is stable at 2 ohms, every spkeaker is connected to a channel, only the sub is bridged. The amp is mounted horizontaly in my trunk. Any ideas?? thx

Lol, i dont knwo what your problem is but thanks for hijacking my thread //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Ok, well, i have now realized that my amp is stable at 4 ohms per channel (150 rms though). So, this problem has absolutely nothing to do with being wired wrong (at least it shouldnt...). Could this have something to do with my amp not getting enough power from the battery? Because the lights in my car and headlights flicker a little bit, should i try the big 3 upgrade and then see how it works? Or might my amp just be done for?
