Amp overheating in spare tire well

well it could be a combo of the fact that it ran well at 2ohms bridged because it was ported it was more efficient and now it's stuffed in a location with no air flow and your running sealed meaning your putting down more power to get the same sound level and with it be a/b class it's going to get hot when pushed at it's lowest load. my T600.2 was on sub duty for a while 2ohms bridged(1ohm per ch) and it had a run time of 30-45 min full tilt before going into protect/overheat.
I opened up the cover today on the way to work and it didn't get as hot, so i'm going to get some more fans in there and see if that fixes it, if not i'll mount it somewhere else....

So I uncovered it and added 2 more fans for a total of 4 internal fans blowing on the heatsink.. and it's still getting really hot. Could it be the sub wiring? I only had 16 AWG wiring left but didn't think it could be that big of a deal since it was just a 4 ft run of wiring. Could that cause it to overheat?

Have you tried any of the info we gave you before? Like opening the area its in for day/few hours to see if it still does it? You are still blowing the same hot air into it that's coming out of it

So I uncovered it
Yeah I opened it all up so it's got plently of cold air, opened up the amp added two more fans inside the heat sink area because I had two extra fans from my other BA amp that I had laying around...

Don't put the fans on the heat sinks. You need the air flow to push the air in and circulate out of the whole circuit board //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

I put them on the stock location, just added more of them there. It worked perfectly before I installed it in this car so it has to be something other then the air circulation now that it's out of the tire well... All I can think of is the speaker wiring going to the subwoofer is too small other then that I'm out of ideas...

If this was the case, you would feel the speaker wire get warm after usage. That will not put it into protect like that. I've seen wire insulation melt before throwing the amp into protect back in the day. pull the back of that amp off and lay it on its front face. smell the board, you might have already caused damage that is making it act the way it is. you will know by the smell if something bad happened in there. All electrical equipment has a maximum and minimum operating temperature rating it works within before having issues.

I have seen amps trip into protect and not run the same afterward. If it went into protect, there was a very serious problem that the amp dealt with....multiple times could have gave it brain damage, so to speak.

Other than that, unless you were running like >16 ga speaker wire, that would not cause the shutdown. I truly beleive your problems now are internal, or maybe the possibility of a ground connection. I assume all ground wires are the same size as positive wiring? Not to insult your intelligence, but it happens.

Yeah I used 2 runs of 4 gauge wiring, Don't worry about insulting me I'm just trying to get this problem fixed... I've never ran a sealed subwoofer off this amp, It hasn't gone into protect yet with it uncovered so I'll see what happens tonight after I play some music on it, I'm just going to end up mounting it somewhere else and hope for the best right now.

Yeah, I was just trying something new, I got the idea from a g8 form where someone else did the same thing and never had any problems with it, my Alpine F4 that is down there or the LC6i never even get remotely hot, just the BA...

Just remember this, not only do you have 1 amp down there, you have 2. That means twice the amount of heat dispersing and collecting in that small area that just circulates back in instead of cool fresh air. Just my .02
