Amp not working?

I hooked my amp up to a friends system and it wasnt putting out much, the subs were hardly hitting. I dont know if it is the amp tho because we later found out that his system is messed up for some reason. So i guess im asking if there is any way to check if it works without having a system...Ohh by the way it is a pioneer GM-5000T.

Its a pretty vague question, you cant just ask "why is my amp not making subs hit" Give us details, Was the protection light coming on? is the amp 1 ohm stable? How were the subs wired?
