Amp not putting out anywhere close to rated.

Yeah man, just think it's the settings and stuff...after you check with your dmm, you should take a clearer picture of what your settings are. The last pic was blurry //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Just got done testing the my kenwood KAC-7204. According to that gain thing you sent me, it pushes out 4200w? lmao it puts out 93.2v with the gain on full tilt.

Now to test the x1r...brb

Wellllll that didnt go good at allllll.

Connected everything the correct way while the car was off and I get a big E-02 on the lcd.

When the unit has failed and direct current voltage is generated to the speaker's output.turn the power OFF and release the protection, If the "E-02" code does not disappear, Please contact your Kenwood dealer.
So that means it's broken, correct?

Yep, sounds like your amp is screwed. Highly doubt that your amp was putting out 4200watts...Either way, having the gain all the way up like that is not good.

With that error that's not going away, it's probably pretty safe to say your amp is screwed. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Yeah that's what I thought =/ I guess the other day it was just on its way out and today it kicked the bucket. **** thing.

And i doubt it was putting out 4200watts either, but thats just what that chart shows. With the gain full tilt on the 7204 it was at like 93.1v. Idk how they figure...

Does anyone know if it's a fixable problem?

I view amps as like a sort of mini computer, if one thing goes wrong it brings the whole system down, so surely you can find out what broke and replace that one thing right?

Just found out that it occurs when the speaker leads connect, which they did. And to fix it, you just press the reset button, which i neglected to do because i thought turning the power off was the same thing.

I'll give that a go tomorrow, and if it works I will run the test then.

That should cover all your questions, along with anyone else's.

It wouldn't be such an issue, if I only had to get one, but if I change from kenwood now, that would mean I have to get another amp of the same new brand to power the front stage.

Here is the scenario, I have 2 amps, one powering the front stage, one powering the sub. If I change from kenwood, and lets say I go Hifonics, I now have to get rid of both kenwoods, and buy two Hifonics. Which is out of the budget.

I suppose if I got good money for both of the kenwoods then I could afford two new amps, but that most likely wont happen.
you have to get more amps cause the others are not working or you want to get new amps so they match

Right now I have a MTX and a Kenwood amp. I'm doing a project for show/sq and I want to replace the mtx amp with a kenwood so they match, or replace both to have matching amps.

Most likely now though, I will just show one amp and hide the other.

I just got back in from hooking it up again, even when I pressed the reset it still gave me the E-02 so I'm about to call a local shop to see if they can help.

They said they could take a look but couldn't guarantee anything and they could send it out for repair but it would cost $100+ so yeah screw that.

I'll bring it up there and see if they can do anything.
