Amp not powering.

Well, i was driving in town one day and the amps just stopped working, no sound through sub/ speakers and the lights on the amps werent on. I figured that a power or ground came loose because i have a semi-temperay wiring job going on.

Anyways, i checked the grounds, they're good.

I checked the power wire, its putting out 11 volts (not running)

i checked the remote wire, its putting out 11.5 volts.

I have no idea why the amps arnt turning on.

I checked the voltage where the power wire connects to the amp and its only reading .75 volts. Is this normal? Im thinking that theres an internal resistance in the amp that cuts it down. Or should it be reading 12V?

Im in a real hurry here because im leaving tomorrow night on a 20 hours drive (moving up north) and i wont beable to drive for 20 hours without some beats.

Any help would be awsome!

check fuses, check to make sure it isnt shorting out on something under the hood or the path to the amps. make sure the fuse holder isnt melted or bad.

Fuse on the power wire is good (as its still putting out power). Should i check fuses on the amps?

Yeah, check the amplifier's fuses. also, do as explained in the previous post. make sure nothing is shorting out. Basically, start under the hood and work your way back. sooner or later, you will find the problem.

ok, checked amp fuses with mutimeter and they are all still good.

is there any chance that the amps got fried somehow? Im sure all my wiring is good.

Could it be somthing wrong with the HU? I grounded off all the RCA outs on the HU to get rid of noise, If the where shorting eachother would that somehow cause the amps to not power? Somthing tells me it wouldnt, but its worth a shot.

ok, i ran a 50foot wire from the battery straight to the amp and it powered~!

wooooooooo!!! So, i guess it had somthing to do with the power wire after all? Anyways, thanks for your help! I think ill be able to get it all working now.

Measure voltage at fuse holder if ok move down the line. If there is no power at the amp or a small amount you have a short to ground in between the fuse and the amp.

By putting a new wire in you bypassed the short. just narrow down to where the short occurred. Have fun moving!
