Hey everybody, I recently bought a refurbed Hifonics 1206d bxi from an ebay seller with 99.1% feedback. I has just finished rerouting the wiring on my car and had installed the amp and was pleased to see the logo glow blue.

Unfortunately, when I hooked up the re se12 im using, there was no sound from the sub. After trying different ways of wiring the sub from the amp, the car was taken to a local shop while I was away. From what I've been told, they checked over all of the wiring and after checking with a dmm pronounced the amp a dud. I'm just checking to see if anyone has any ideas of what could be wrong; if anything may have been overlooked. Thanks a lot.

i have a Alpine PDX 1000.1 and it happen the same way so i call Alpine they said i tried to push the amp over limit so the fuse burn up in side the amp, i send them in to get fix sold after that so i think you need to call the company.

Is the green power light or red protect light coming on?

If no, the problem is likely the remote wire is not providing enough voltage to turn the amp on or it is providing enough voltage but is current limited and not current capable of turning the amp on.

Quick test:

1. Disconnect the remote wire from the amp.

2. Place a jumper wire from the amps remote terminal to the amps battery + terminal

3. If the amp turns on (power light on), turn on the radio and if it plays ok, the problem is the radio remote wire/circuit.

Typically the logo and power lights come on when the auto turn-on wire has 12V and the unit is grounded. Are you sure you getting oputput from your RCA's into the amp.

I have a amp i'm working on right now and it was doing the same thing and there was 6 power supply fets and 4 diodes that needed to be replaced. Sounds like that guy sold you a busted amp that wasn't repaired correctly.

Well I set a dmm on ac-v and put the pos tip on the tip of one of the sub rca's coming from the hu and the neg tip on the surround of the rca. I heard this should cause some sort of reading on the dmm if its sending a signal? Please correct me if Im wrong, but anyways the dmm didnt respond so I was wondering if the hu is bunk.
