That won't hurt anything, check the voltage at the amp by taking a multimeter and setting it to DC volts (a max range of 20 would be ideal) and putting the positive and negative leads on the power and ground terminals of the amp and see what it says. Do this with the system playing turned up. Ideally you want around 14 volts, if you're dropping down around 12 I'd consider some electrical upgrades. Check this at the amp and at the battery terminals, if the voltage at the amp is significantly lower than at the battery your wire is too small or you're connections are weak somewhere and that problem needs to be addressed ASAP as well.
