Hi guys, i just got a new car after getting rid of my older one. it is an 03 Chevy Malibu. Heres what i have for car audio:

ABP10T - Audiobahn dual 10" subs

A8000V - 400 RMS mono amp

Sony cd/mp3 disc player w/ wiring harness (i think)

this sounded great in my last car

i would like to put it in my new car. rather than getting it done at best buy like i did last time, i figure it would be cool to do it on my own. i have a basic idea of what to do; i watched a crutchfield video

Things i need:

Amp kit - last time, the guy at best buy said the one i bought from walmart was a few inches short (my last car was a bonneville, which are long cars), so he hooked me up with a nice rockford fosgate kit for like 80 bucks. unfortunately i couldnt salvage he amp kit. should i pick one up at walmart, or get a kit online? a kit that can handle 400rms is anywhere from 40-80 bucks as ive seen in the stores. i know rockford is probably better than scoche.

in dash kit - saw a scoche one at walmart for 10 bucks, will that do the trick? (92' and up GM in dash kit, and listed 03 malibu on the back)

i was thinking a DIY project would be cool, unless there are unforseen problems that i may be getting into with my car make/model. i dont want to mess anything up. I read somewhere that someone took their stock radio out and it messed up some electrical stuff with the car. Also with the speakers, i have a pair of rockfords to replace the stock with. i read online that the rear speakers in an 03 malibu were 6x4's. well i was surprised when i took the grill off - they look like 6x9s (which i have from my last car).

wat do you guys think? should i give it a shot or just get it done somewhere? i remember i ended up paying nearly 200$ at best buy for everything, including the amp kit (not in dash though, i had that done at a different time)//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Get the dash kit from Walmart, and get the wire from knukonceptz.com.

Never take your car to best buy again. You can do it yourself.

How fast are you trying to get this in?

ok sounds good. does that site allow you to use paypal? i have plenty of free time to work on this, but the quicker the better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i should be looking for a 4 GA kit right? my friend said it would feed more juice to the subs
