Amp install question

I am installing my first amp and had few questions. The amp is 5 channel 1800w max 900w rms.

1: In the instructions it say the power connection is 8 guage. Do I have to use 8 gauge or can I use thicker like 4 or 1/0?

2: The amp has 2 40 amp fuses in it. When installing the power cable is it correct to use an 80 amp fuse? or should i use a different amp fuse?

if you use anything thicker than 8 gauge wire it probably wont fit

The bigger the better when it comes to wire thicknes. If you can fit the connector for 4 gauge you will be better off. The 80 amp fuse will give you proper protection.
