Amp install problem

Installed my amp today and im getting power to it but the only sound I can get out of the sub is a loud distortion sound when i turn the settings up on it.

I got my ground power and remote wires hooked up right , I ran my RCA L and R from h/u to L and R INPUT on Amp. I ran speaker wire from red and black terminals on sub to + and - on amp. A plug kinda like a phone jack plug came with the amp it says High Level Sensing Input and it has a couple short + and - wires on it , I tried hooking them back into the amp with the speaker wires coming from the sub, Can anybody tell me what the problem is? Any help appreciated. H/u is Sony Xplod , Sub and amp are the Xplod slim series.

take the high level input thing off. you will either use rca's or the high level input. what it is for, is for when people dont have an aftermarket HU with rca outputs, they take the high level input and hook them to the speakers throughout there car, then that goes through the amp and gives it signal.

make sure your rca's are getting a good connection. play you stereo, and wiggle the connections on the back of the HU, and at the amp (with it playing) and you might get something. sometimes they are pushed to hard together, and others not hard enough, or they arent getting good connections. so mess around with that a little.

Ok I wiggled the rcas and still nothing , I even tried unhooking them and hooked the high level input plug from amp to sub still nothing. Im running out of things to try lol

I had a problem with an xplod HU a few months back where the SUB pre outs didn't work, so I used the REAR ones instead.

Also make sure there isn't a setting in the HU that has the pre outs turned off.
