Amp HOT! Music not even on! WTF? need opinions/inputs

Okay the reason it was getting hot IMO was it was not getting rid of any store power. So you need to fix that wake up line you can check to see if the wire is the right one, but there should be a switch somewhere on the amp that asks how you want the amp to turn on. Make sure it is selected to wake up line. It it is than you might have the wrong wire in the rear of the deck if you do than wire it to the solid blue wire if that is already the case wire it to the red wire behind the head unit. PM me or aim me tonight and we can go over things. Good luck

Ah, sounds lke you may be more familiar with the actual make/model amp than I am...all the amps I've ever dealt with don't have the switch you speak of...just the remote wire. Will be interesting to find that out...thanks!

Hmm I ll check on my amp about that switch but I am pretty sure that it dont have something like that..

Would it be ok to wire it to the red wire if I actually had it wired up correctly already?

I thought the red wire is a constant power? or that is the yellow wire?

Red is typically ignition, yellow constant.

dont know what exactly was said before

well 1st, like stated the 2500s run HOT...i had 2 before that you could cook an egg on after playing a song...then one blew after moderate listening on a hour drive home //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

they should have left the fans in them

2nd, i have seen radios where the remote wire always had power through it, no idea why

i had a switch on the 2 2500s when i had them because they got so hot, worked fine

lol yeah //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I know plenty of people in CA that were rooting for Wings over Sharks or Ducks

About the red wire- do you think i can tap the remote wire into the red wire so it would turn on and off?

But I want to make this clear(maybe I should have before): My Pioneer Avic 900BT does not shut down or turn off completely.. I would just press the "off" button then it would go into some kind of a stand-by screen with a clock on top left corner.. so what I m trying to say is that HU does not completely turn off when I have it in "off" mode.. not sure if that made any difference?

I see about them running HOT.. I think we are all clear that those amps tend to run HOT.. I am okay with that now..

But why would you add switch because they tend to run hot? you mean your HU does not turn the amps off just like mine?

LMK thanks

lol I am going to just pick up some platic pry tools from walmart so I can remove the bezel today and take a look behind the HU..

Everything is great except for this problem with the amp being on all the time..

for sure it is something about BLUE wire lol, otherwise my HU is ****ed or it just works in that way(keeping the amp turned on all the time)

When you hit off have you ever tried holding it for a few seconds to see if it would completely shut off. But yes you can use the red wire for your wake up I have used it before. AIM me at reimermatt if you forgot it we can talk it over.

but from what I recall, red wire is a 12V constant wire so why should I tap into the red wire if I want to have the amp turning on and off along with the radio?

UPDATE:

For all of you guys who think that I wired it up incorrectly, check this pix out

(I took the radio out and checked all of the wiring and I am 100% right I can tell you this..

check out the pics I took, let me know if more pics or whatever is needed

see the wire on the right is the remote wire (blue with white stripe) coming from the HU's wiring harness, and the blue wire on the left of the crimp is the wire coming from the amp

IMG_1622.jpg

where the remote wire came from(wiring harness)

IMG_1623.jpg

and this blue wire is the antenna control wire and that is the only other blue wire that I can find out of all of those wirings

IMG_1625.jpg

Now tell me how can I have it wired up wrong?!?

I am thinking either something is really fuc-ked up or it is just that my HU does not turn amps on and off..

You're missing the point. If your HU isn't turning off, neither will your amp. Therefore your remote wire would always be on. Your problem lies in your +12 and your switched power.

dude..

my HU do not turn off and I dont think it is designed to do so.. It would turn off as in "stand-by" mode it would just show the clock on upper left corner..

I dont think I can completely shut the HU off, it is not designed to do that since it got long load up time.. It got GPS as well so I can just turn the radio(music source) off and continue using the GPS navigation..

I have it off in the "sound"/music mode

Therefore, I do not have it wired up wrong.. (you just straight up said "without doubt I had it wired up wrong")

now what do you suggest?

Dude, good luck with your problem. I'm not sure why someone would come to a forum, ask how to fix something that no one but yourself has access to; then tell us that you have a 1 in a million HU that isn't designed to turn off because the makers determined that +12V power on cars is limitless, and then get shi**y when we respond. Your wires are switched or your HU is retarded.

Done.
