I am looking into buying an amp for 2 500 rms 2 ohm subs. I was wondering if I needed an amp that put out 1000 watts rms at 2 ohm or if i could somehow wire the subs to recieve power from an amp running at 1 ohm. Would there be any negatives in using a 1 ohm load to run 2 ohm subwoofers?

A pair of dual 2's can't be wired to a 1ohm load sry. U can do .5 , 2, and 8ohm loads only. I am willing to bet you could wire to .5 ohm and with box rise you will be well over a 1ohm load so all should be good.

Whats your budget?

ok thanks for the input. i am not familiar with those brands as i am new to this but i will look into both of them. especially the audiopipe since it is 200 and will serve me just as good hopefully

ok i got another quick question.... the two amps you recommended are 1800 watt and 2200 watt. will i be able to run this on a ford escape without upgrading electrical system battery or alternator? because i only need 1000 watts power and if i don't need to upgrade i'd prefer not to

With the AP running a 2ohm and assuming you have no other amps you should be ok. I would do the big 3 at the min. Then crank it up check the voltage and from there you will know if you will need a second batt or upgrade to a bigger starter battery. But with just a 1000 watts I don't think you will have much issue. If you go with the aq2000d then I highly suggest you think about a second batt atleast.

ok so the aq is out of the picture then because i'd rather not chance an upgrade at this point. i have the audiopipe as a decent quality very fairly priced amp. any other suggestions? i found a new rockford fosgate t sreies 1000 watt under 400. i am trying to get a fel for the market better brands all around

For $400 that the RF cost. i would get the 2200d thats twice the amp the RF is. You can always turn down the gain's on the 2200d which will help keep ur electrial upgrades to a min. Good thing about the 2200 is that if u ever upgrade you already have a beast of an amp.
