hows it going guys got a little problem. my power acoustik LT 4ch amp gets realy hot after a little while. i havent noticed a problem in sound when it gets hot but it does concern me. could it be i need a better ground or ground plane?, and if so would that possible help the slight hint of alternator wine i hear?

How do you have it wired and at what ohm loads? Also, where is your gain set? And is this amp driving front speakers or bridged to subs?

Does it have enough room/space around it to cool?

You live in Pheonix and it does get pretty hot there...

well the amp is pushing my front components witch are cdt cl-641, and its pushing the rear component cdt cl-61(IEK) they are all 4 ohm speakers so i guess the amp is seeing 2ohms right?

oh forgot, the gain on the amp is set at about half for front component and little less then half for the rear component

what's your view of hot? hot as in you can't touch it more than a second? some amps tend to run warm which is normal. if it did get too hot, most likely your amp would go into protection mode.

right thats what i figuered and it has yet to go into protection mode, so maybe it does just run a little warm not to mention here in Phoenix az its always hot as hell inside any car. but that still doesent explain my slight hint of alternator wine. i noticed that one tip of one of my rca wires is damaged and its exposing one little wire could that be it? i guess i should grab a new rca wire and test it eh? also i ran one of my rca wires on the same side of my 2gauge power wire but the power wire in ran underneath van and then comes through a drlled hole in the rear. would that still cause noise to get through even if its underneath?

ok its not the rca wire and the amp gets hot as hell. i think my ground is crappy. should i just run a ground wire back to the battery?
