Amp / Head unit Configurations

Hello Again, I have a general question about Head unit/ Amp hookups..The Amp I bought has Speaker input Terminals AND RCA inputs. The Head Unit has the four pair of speaker output leads plus Front, Back, And SUB RCA outputs.

Is it OK to use the four pair of speaker output leads to supply sound to the amp, AND ALSO use the RCA SUB output to feed a powered Subwoofer?

It seems it should be an obvious yes, but Im not an expert and the Installation manuals for both seem to cover many different wiring scenarios EXCEPT what I want to achieve.

Thank You //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Use the pre-outs. The sound quality will be a lot better.

I actually read somewhere that the sound quality would be no different, but the reason I am doing it this way is because I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee that has an amp mounted under the rear seat..Im swapping out that amp but all the speaker connections are right there, so why add the extra labor and cost of running RCA cables?

If you buy a 4channel amp kit it will include the RCA's if your taking it to a shop for the install either way they will have to pull up the carpet for the power and ground wire so it shouldn't add any extra to the install cost and if you're doing it your self it wont be any harder. Your running RCA's anyways to the sub so might as well just run them to the amp. The stock amp has the power wire and speaker out puts all in the same harness as well so either way you would have to cut and splice wires. RCAs IMO are a lot more simple
