amp ground

I finally got my amp to work, But it created another question.

I was messing around with my amp when it touched a screw on my trunk and the light turned on. I had my ground nice and tight but when any part of the amp would touch a piece of metal in the trunk, taa-daa it tunes on. What is the cause of that? I just attaced a wire to the body and attached to the amp and now it works with no problems.
