Hi all, I've been working on my very first audio installation myself to avoid those insane prices they charge to get someone to do it for you. Anyways, last week, my system was running fine with 2 Kicker CS65 6.5 Coaxials in my front door, 2 Kicker CS697 6*9 Coaxials on my rear deck powered off a Polk Audio PA D400.4 4 channel amp (125 rms x 4 chan @ 4 ohm) and a Pioneer AVH X3800BHS headunit, no problems with set up, amp set up properly with gains at the correct levels.
I've been planning on adding 2 subs to my car so I took out my 4 gauge power wire from battery and installed a 0 gauge instead and ran a distr. block in back so I can connect 2 amps. Before I added my second amp today a few days ago my system started messing up, after I installed the distr. block as I only had the 0 gauge lead and 4 gauge input/output (whatever you call it) from the block to the Polk amp.
Now I can't turn the volume on my headunit past a specific number (it varies with each song) or the sound from the speakers cut out and only my tweeters play (not hooked up to an amp) while the speakers themselves make a "popping" noise and amp goes into protect mode until I turn the volume down, which takes a few seconds for the speakers to turn back on. I doubt I blew the speakers if they play perfectly the same as before, just at a lower volume but much better than stock.
The subs are 2 Kicker CVR124 12" Dual 4 ohm CompVR Series connected to a Pioneer GM‑D8601 Class D Mono Amplifier and powered by a 4 gauge wire to the distr. block. When I added the subs today the same problem exists but now I get a scratchy/screeching noise as well. None of my RCAs or speaker wires are touching the power/ground since I used zip ties to avoid them touching in the first place.
Could it be caused from me running an extra set of rca's connected from the sub output on my hu to my trunk but not plugged into anything for a few days until today, changing the 4 gauge to a 0 gauge power wire while running two 4 gauges off of the power distr. block, amps are grounded to 2 different locations, or some other reason? I just want to fix this and start enjoying my setup.
