Amp going in protect after swap

For some reason I after I swaped out my amp it started going into protect mode. I got a 14 gmc sierra regular cab and when I first hooked up an Infinity Kappa 4 amp it was working flawless with 0AWG KnuKonceptz wire. I bought a used Digital Designs Ss4a and wired it had to cut the wire to make it fit. Amp smellrd like burnt when I got it & when I turned volume up it would shut off on me. It got so annoying cus it would do it so often and then I took the PoS off and hooked up infinity amp again. Next thing you know was doing same and well turns out my ground got loose. I fixed my ground and checked all my wires and still goes into protect node.Any insight? Idk wtf is wrong and its pissing me off since ive been w/o music for about a week. My deck is a pioneer80prs btw

Did you scrape off any paint when you did your ground? Where is the ground at? Sometimes grounds can be finicky.
Yes scraped off paint & its on the seatbelt bolts for the middle seat. Took it off tho so its just the nut & ground

I'm in agreement with Thatpurplekush...that is NOT a good ground. Your prob having issues because one amp may not mind a ground like that whereas another amp will be picky when grounded. You follow me? So...some amps on the market are finicky when it comes to grounding points. The absolute best grounding point is your vehicle chassis. Bare metal to metal. And bolt/nut combo is better for ya.

completely agree. that is a bad place to ground. the burnt smell doesnt bode well either. peel up the carpet covering the spare tire cover, scrape some paint and put a self tapping sheetmetal screw in a place where you know there isnt anything behind the metal that youd puncture. Better yet, do the same thing with a nut and bolt and some washers like boomin said. If you want some examples of what to do, check out steve meades youtube channel or car audio fabricators channel. I bet you can even just search on youtube for "proper amp ground" and find an instructional how-to

Ok So ive come to the conclusion that its not my ground. Whenever im in a road sometimes when theres a bump my amp if its off it comes up to life. Looks like its not fetting power. The fuses seem to be fine and I guess its the battery connection? Dont have a freakimg idea they're working fine then they shut off dont receive any voltage. Any ideas?

Btw this past weekend I took my time took the trucks seats off scraped the **** off the paint and tighted it up real good. Used knu konceptz crimps .

Yeah...if it mysteriously comes on from a bump in the road, you gotta loose connection somewhere my friend. Hate to say it but spend a few hours going over everything...

Does it happen with volume on low or high?

Doesnt matter if its high or low. Sometimes on low sometimes on high. Lie before id turn the volume down thinking it was just when id crank it up but turns out it doesnt really matter. Sometimes im driving with out music and every now & then I hear amps going on and off. I seen sokething earlier and it said that its probly a popped fuse that instead of breaking, juust melted and when it touches its good but when it doesnt they shut off. I did pop a fuse once in the Door pannel & swaped it will check everything later on to make sure everythings ok.

One the sub amp (DD M1D) Its halfway through its running 2 sundown sa8v3s at 1 ohm & Mids amp is DD SS4A running at 2 Ohms is like 1/4 the way up or less. DEck is Deh80 Prs

I dont think theyre overgained or anything. Later on when i get home ill try to see if its the fuses if not ill just get new battery terminals and hope its the fuses tho

And btw I dont have Big 3 or anything this is going to be my next upgrade and maybe a Northstar batrery . I havent done it because I dont really know where to put the grounds at in the engine bay.
