Amp gets power, but when grounded it doesnt?

Yesterday I jumped started someone and my subs stopped working. I check my fuses. I have power to the amp. But its red which means "protect" and green means good to go. But when I ground it, it doesn't get power at all :/

the amp should always be grounded.

I know. But how come when its grounded it doesnt get power?

Does it work without a ground on it??? IF so I would say that perhaps the amp chassis is grounding itselft. Does the amp touch metal??

I used to have an old Punch 45 that would arc if it touched anything metal in the truck. Good times.

it gets power but its on protect so the subs wont work... but when i ground it, it doesnt get power. ive had it grounded the whole time but they stopped working for a little while.

so you are saying when you hook up the positive only, the amp goes into protect? and when you connect the ground, the amp cannot turn on?

Sounds like the main regulator diode (rectifier) is blown in the amp.

anyway to fix that or just get a new amp?
