amp for shivas

Hi all. I need advice on wiring my 2 shivas. I was wondering what would be the best way to wire them? VCs in parallel and get a 2 channel amp and run it at 4ohm? Or should I run VCs in parallel AND subs in parallel and use a mono amp at 2ohm? What would sound better? Are there any downfalls to running them 2ohm? Will it even work?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm a relative newb although I have been reading this forum for a while.

Yes, you can wire them parallel-parallel for a 2ohm mono load. You won't hear a difference between a 2-channel and a mono amp. So basically, you can do it either way you like. Gives you more amp options when you don't limit yourself to one configuration. Only difference really is that most 2-channel amps are class A/B, and the majority of mono amps are Class D. Given that they were both exactly the same wattage, the mono amp would probably be a little more more efficient (less strain on your electrical system).

In that case, if I wanted each to get about 300w rms I would need a 600w rms amp correct? Any suggestions?

Most stereo amps are stable to 2-ohm per channel, so if you had one shiva per channel, you probably wouldn't get the full output potential of the amp, unless it's JL or something that puts out the same power at different loads.

He could always look for an amp that does the power he needs at 4ohm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Eclipse 34230 will do 400w x 2 @ 4ohm, for example.
